@johnaursula I am afraid you have misunderstood my question which is still open. I was not asking about the origin of general christian mysticism. Darwin's evolutionary ideas do not imply and aim or "Omega" in natural selection apart from fitness for circumstances. Also I was not asking whether he visited certain geographical locations. But being in Tamil Nadu would naturally lead to his hearing of and being interested in Aurobindo's teaching. I cannot imagine he would not have looked at it.

What interests me about Teilhard's visit to tamil Nadu is that it seems hard to imagine he then wasn't, especially as a Jesuit, at all aware of the works of Sri Aurobindo. Would you know of any evidence for or against that ? After all, if he had been, the originality of the essence of his philosophy would be rather questionable.
6:38 - 6:48 true. OTOH, knowing freedom is a prerequisite for a genuine "Incarnation" in the compassionate sense, so it does have a kind of priority spiritually.

Do you know R.Panikkar? I just took a class about him. He was a Catholic Bishop who went to India and studied Hinduism then became a Buddhist. Return without giving up his Christian faith.
