The man is against coexistence and diversity, he is simply put un-american. He is for throwing seniors into poverty, against healthcare, and simply rude and inconsiderate.

The illnesses associated with over use of the car, whether it's sitting in one too much or breathing the air they too much pollute, dealing with the traffic, with the disconnection it creates in our towns--how easy is it to get around YOUR town on foot? Some of ours are cut to pieces with major roads. Not only hard to get across, but also unpleasant to walk near. The car has its usefulness, but people have new ideas they want to bring into the mix.

Our country cut a cruel swath of destruction and highways via the National Highway Act in the 1960's-connecting up cities in the US. Within those cities, according to a documentary I saw on this, the sort of community most commonly cut through was the African American community. Thriving businesses, thriving communities. People's homes.

Forcing people to live in livable communities with no cars, biking using mass transit? That doesn't ring true to me. People are creating them because they WANT to live in them. Other countries have made out well with walking and mass transit and bicycling.

The grand daughter of the woman who wrote Little House on the Prairie wrote an article about how one thing they left out of the picture painted of the frontier and the settlers: people WERE getting government handouts. There was food handed out, Many were able to go there, were attracted to go there because of the incredibly cheap deal the government gave them on land.
