I remember doing this for a loooong time like four years ago on Lakshmi. I went 1/50 on it or something. And what made it even longer was a RMT group of 4 people getting it half of the time or even more often. And what did I do it for? Most probably not for the mediocre, not really helping that much at all stats, but rather the prestige (easily the most important factor in FFXI). Could've most likely leveled my NIN to 37 ten times over with a good static if I didn't search for this thing. lol

Best way to claim though is not to run up and throw something at it . For instance if you are thf and you're equipping your rouges feet why on earth would you stop fleeing... Run right up to the SOB and STEAL from it... If you're camping against someone else and you stop to whip out your boomerang or chakram I guarantee that mages dia will out claim you. When you're at camp solo tho- Ranged is all good. Thf/RNG works great for this

Have a rng/thf... spam wide scan after PH kills. If it pops on wide scan but is far from your location. Track it, then flee. Shadowbind to claim.

How about you guys get lucky like me? log out in Valkurm Dunes log in and just walk around for 5mins and get it 1/1.Samething with the O-kotes i got.
