The opening ceremonies for the Monorail. With Richard Nixon, Walt Disney, and Dick's kids. This is a pretty funny video to watch.
Also includes a small briefing on what exactly a monorail is.
A special for the 4th anniversary of the park.
I will not post the entire broadcast because it really is just dull. AND PACKED WITH KODAK SPOTS. However, I am uploading the key moments.

Anyone else hear Nixon correct Walt when Walt said, "Mr. Nixon?" Nixon was nobody compared to Walt Disney.

man, those were truly the "good ol' days" back then :)
Everything was cheap and life was good - although salaries were also quite low too. But these were truly some great times. I only hope we can all see times like these again someday.

Tokyo's monorail system has had ground-level tracks since it was built in the 60's... and that's JUST Tokyo... there are more.

L.A. should have listened...then I wouldn't be in traffic all the time...they wer proposed a monorail solution in the late 50's ..they laughed ..cause they thought it was just an amusment park ride ...jokes on them now...massive traffic...

Yes, a Monorail has to be elevated, but even at Elevation, it uses up less land than the current system. Also, if you look at the amount of concrete and steel used on just the Metro Gold Line alone, you could have easily built 2.5 Monorail lines with that material. I was there during the MTA meetings with the engineers, and it was all about money and greed They knew that an elevated Monorail would not stop an ambulance from crossing towards Huntington Hospital...
