Bisphenol-A is a chemical additive used in the lining of many plastic bottles.
Lately, there's been a big news scare because of its controversial use in baby products like bottles, pacificers, etc. and from animal testing done on rats showing that it can cause mammary cancer or cause enlarged prostates.
Do the research yourself however and you'll find contrasting results. It would take large amounts to cause harm to humans. The big picture is that most plastic made IS NOT biodegradable though.

I am a bit distraught that such a well respected organization as Good Housekeeping would even harbor the idea to recommend a Sigg bottle in a test of BPA-free water bottles, when the comment "test performed on behalf of the manufacturer showed that when water is kept in the bottle, no BPA migrates from the bottle or liner into the water" indicates that there is BPA present in the bottle!
Please explain to me what type of BPA-free water bottles have BPA in them?
