Dose pipe - turbo (flutter)

Clip of a dose pipe on a turbo. Same engine as VL Turbo RB30ET. Reving my R31 skyline engine to produce the "dose" noise. I have a turbo RB30 with intercooler and 2.5" piping and 17cm 2.5" dose pipe with a small pod filter on it. No blow off valve. Running 8 psi

I have not had a BOV in the turbo system for a year and run the dose pipe for 6 months. I took the turbo off a month ago and it has no shaft play. Its is as tight and firm as possible. From personal experience DOSE and compressor surge doesn't cause shaft play and ruin steel wheeled turbo's . It may however ruin stock ceramic turbo's.

I am running a pod filter to stop dust etc getting in, thats why you can't see the dose pipe easily.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE of having flutter for 6 months and DOSE for 1 year ( so 1.5 years of compressor surge) then pulling the turbo off and there is no shaft play. It is a steel wheel'd, 20 year old turbo. And its still good. So I don't beleive it ruin's turbo's. But might on weak turbo's like ceramic or nylon wheel'd turbo's.

Dose comes from trumpeted flutter. When boost builds and the throttle closes, the air bounces back thru the intercooler and piping, into the turbo, but that is still pumping air in, so it bounces back and forth. Making a flutter sound.
