We've all heard the jokes about people being sent to Siberia for punishment. Well, a company called Gazprom has people heading there for a better life. It's a huge natural gas company, and its fields are way up in the arctic circle. A powerful money machine that sometimes flexes its muscles by closing the taps. It's a usually secretive company, but recently the media was invited to take a look.

  • Ah Gazprom! Dmitry Tetrevsky and friends salute you!

  • That's right, People smile when I tell them I came from Siberia they don't know there is a well developed and established city with high quality of living! I was born and spent first 18 years of my life there. No regrets at all!!! People are nice and genuine there.

  • The only way to employ in gazprom - to have relatives there.

  • My parents came there at 1983rd....was under construction yet that time. Nowadays probably much different from what I used to know when i was 3 years old :) We stayed there until 1990. Good times for my parents...many young people, good salaries, but severe conditions (but one is used after some time). Would like to go there once, to see my school, house (if still in place).

  • I don't like how they cut off the dialogue of the people they interviewed to make it look like Gazprom owns their soul...

  • Gazpromland :)

They take care for their workers, thats for sure, because work conditions are very difficult in there. Like short daylight, cold winters (-54 Celsius) and so on.

  • I would love to go there sometime!

  • Красиво)))

  • Novy Urengoy is the city of my youth. I lived there about 20 years.
