This is a profound and poignant reflection on the horror that your father endured. He is a true Hero to America and represents proudly the participation of the Coast Guard in WWII and the Normandy invasion. I hope that the Coast Guard Public Affairs personnel that interviewed Knox view this tribute and endevour to write his story for the current CG members.

    Chief Gunners Mate, USCG Reserves.

More to the Hero..I was there when he: leapt over a fence, machete in had to save a woman being beaten, went into a burning apartment and carried out a handicapped man, jumped fully clothed to save his son in a lake, and every day thrashing out the mediocre art in our society. Never giving up his role in pointing to the lineage of true art, so that we do not lose our way in knowing where art came from. He carries that torch, untiringly, with humor, love and compassion.

Excellent story! An eye-opening and moving account of the Coast Guard's little known heroic efforts during WWII. Thanks deeply for your valiant service to our nation!

Thank you so much for your stories, Knox. You tell them so well. Thanks to Olivia for posting this. I'm young enough (and lucky) to never have experienced a war, and no one captures those images or makes me think about it as deeply as your stories. I'm glad someone still tells them. They are important to hear. Much love to you and your family. Yours, Isabella
