(Demi's POV - MARCH, 3 Months Later)
It was a Sunday. I first woke from the pale light shining in through my shear white curtains, then the soft tapping of knuckles against the wood of my bedroom door. I slowly raised myself from my bed, pulling my beige duvet over me like a cape and opened my door. "Good morning, sunshine." Joe said sarcastically as he put a tray directly in front of my face. It had on it a mug of what appeared to be bitter black coffee and a plate of eggs and bacon. "Eat." He urged me. I took the tray and stumbled back into bed, Joe in tow. "I've decided that this thing you're doing is done." He sat beside me and used my fork to scoop a bit of scrambled egg and stick it in his mouth.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
He swallowed, "This thing." He motioned around my room, "Sleeping until noon, skipping classes, not eating and overall, being a completely antisocial couch potato."
"Actually, I'm on a bed."
"That is beside the point, Demi." He replied.
"Okay. I was going to go out today anyways," I sighed.
"Oh, really??" He asked.
"Really," I lied, "Wanna go to the drive in tonight, like old times?"
"I'd love to," He replied, "I'll check the paper for show times." He stood up and left me in my room alone. I brought my tray into the bathroom, taking a few bites before dumping the rest of its contents down the toilet. I was never a breakfast person. A few hours later I hopped in the shower and was ready in 10 minutes. We were seeing The Breakfast Club because it was the only thing playing at the local drive in movie theater, and it was Joe's favorite movie. We use to go to that theater every weekend at the start of college, during freshmen and sophomore years but then we grew too busy for it come junior and senior years.
"Ready?" I asked, pulling a plain black sweatshirt over my head.
"I've been ready for three months, D." He replied. I rolled my eyes at him and we were soon at the drive in. We borrowed Selena's truck because it's a pick up, that way we could bring blankets and pillows and lay down in the back. Much more comfortable than sitting inside of a stuffy car. I set up the back as Joe went to buy popcorn, drinks and candy. "Snow Caps for you," He threw me my favorite box of candy at me, "And Sour Worms for me."
"Yum," I said as I opened the box and stuffed a handful of the chocolate into my mouth. As usual only a few minutes into the movie had gone by and Joe and I weren't paying attention to it at all, instead we were huddled up, whispering to make sure not to disturb any other vehicles. This always happened, we'd go to see the movie and end up talking the whole time.
"I'm glad you decided to come back to civilization today, I was beginning to get really worried about you," Joe whispered, squeezing my arm in the process.
"Yeah. I guess I just felt...I don't know, worthless."
"You are not worthless, Demi. You are worth more than the entire universe; please don't ever think that just because Tony was such a jackass."
I smiled at him, trying my best to accept his compliment. "Thank you, Joey."
"Dems, you just gotta forget about him. At some point in life you have to let go of all the inane drama and the people who start it, and just be happy with people who want to make you feel happy so much that you forget the bad and focus solely on the good. Cause D, life is too short to be anything but happy."
"I know that, it's just difficult, you know? He really had me believing the string of lies he told me."
"I know." He replied, understanding that there was no more he could say.

Almost two hours later we were in the car on the way back to our apartment. The past couple of hours have been the best I have had in months. I hadn't smiled in a very long time, let alone laugh and as typical, Joe cured that. "I've missed you." Joe suddenly said quietly.
"I've missed you too, Joe." I replied.
"Thank you,"
"For what?" I questioned.
"For giving me my life back,"
"Then thank you for restarting mine," I said. He reached for my hand and intertwined it with his own, softly tracing my palm with his thumb as he drove us silently home. They say friends clasp, lovers lace. The future is unclear for Joe and I right now, but one thing I know for sure, I was wrong for denying everything before.
