@twink1ebug I suspect that this wedding was filmed for a theatrical newsreel item since, at the time, this interracial marriage was illegal in California! You'll note that Yogananda refers to "the brown Caucasian of India and the white Caucasian of America" to assert that both parties are of the same race. The man in white robes on the right side is Hamid Bey, who toured with Yogananda and founded the Coptic Fellowship.

Who were these people... that they had access to the equipment to make a movie **with sound** in 1931, just 4 years after the first feature film with sound (The Jazz singer, 1927) came out? THAT seems extraordinary...
They didn't have camcorders back then. And this is edited, so somebody took the footage into a cutting room and edited it by hand.
Not something just anyone could do at that time, I think....
