  • Morse, Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy. I'll check that out.

  • Thanks Steve for keeping Deep Purple going. That's too weak, but I hope you understand. Can't wait for the new album, if its as good as 'Rapture' then its going to be epic!

  • @nealattacktheater And Danny McPhearson!

  • best man ever!!! he do only best to deep purple

  • OMG! Neal Morse, Steve Morse, Mike Portnoy and Dave LaRue! That is an insane lineup.

  • @beeroosterm Thanks for that. Yeah i'll need to make a point of checking out his stuff outside the band. I've got the free Spotify on my pc so i'll have a look on there and obviously on here as well. It would be nice if he came to Scotland with his band and played in an intimate venue. I caught DP at the Glasgow Barrowlands Ballroom which only has a capacity of about 1900.

    Regards. David.

  • @DCHurlford1 I would strongly recommend seeing Steve with the Steve Morse Band - or with whatever other band he plays with beyond his DP concerts. It's a real treat

  • Cheers for posting this excellent interview.

  • @beeroosterm For me Blackmore will always be the ultimate Purple guitarist but Morse is a class act and has his own style. Yeah i remember Gillan saying if Ritchie had stayed in '93 then Deep Purple would have seized to exist, PERIOD. Purpendicular was a great album imo, full of confidence and a great mix of styles. I saw Morse with DP in '96 (his first UK Tour with them) and he didn't dissapoint.

  • What a nice guy. And I like his playing just as much as Rithcie's.

  • @ZeGentlemen Steve never gets enough credit for revitalizing Deep Purple. It is my strong belief that without him, they would have been finished as a band 15 years ago. As a huge Dregs and SMB fan, I have missed him terribly, as I used to be able to see him play at least twice a year. Since he's been with DP, he "only" plays every few years in the US in SMB. Hell, if he wasn't so much like James Brown, we'd never see him except when DP was around.

  • Love Morse's playing during the start!! I can see why JP loved his playing!
