There were between 200-300 people there, of all ages, backgrounds, opinions, ideals, genders, races, etc. Most of the people there were college-age kids. No two people we spoke to were there for the same reason. We found that there are some views that they share with the Tea Party but we disagree on other issues - especially as regard the Constitution and Capitalism - and we also disagree on the means to the ends we do agree on. People were invited to speak on the stage to share their views and many did. They played John Lennon's song "Imagine," the greatest hippie song of all time. As I walked around in my yellow "Don't Tread On Me" tea-shirt, I got some funny looks and when different occupiers accidentally bumped into me, none of them ever apologized, but, overall, they were nice and very civil - they must have missed the memo from Stephen Lerner (SEIU), Rosanne Barr, Van Jones, etc. who have called for violence in these rallies all over America.
