Germany: The New Heart of Europe | European Journal

Ever since Bulgaria and Romania joined the European Union in January 2007,the geographic center of the European Union has been in Germany,in the village of Meerholz in Hessen.There's not much more to see than a small hill,a flag and a 'center' marker. Meerholz residents are enthusiastic EU fans and proud of their title,but now they're worried. If EU candidate Croatia is granted accession,the center will shift to Bavaria.
