anyone remember the thing like this that had the 'blue moon' song?

@ricardo266 I'd assume that we were treated to the Back Shortly slide if the ITV regional company had no adverts to sell at that timeslot.
-
it sounds like the sims

I hated that show The Hitman and Her. I can think of another word to describe it which rhymes with hit :) :) :)

Anybody know the artist of the piece being played here? It's sounds like some kind of New Age piece, e.g. the work of Liz Story.
-
it was very boring, i can remember seeing 'back shortly' on citv

What day was 24th March 1991?
That music - for some reason I can help thinking... "The Sims".
This must have been boring as fuck, it hardly seems worth having the TV on at all.

Absolutely.
Pointless TV.

Was this recorded in the Tyne Tees region? I'm quite astonished and fascinated to see this presentation clip - on 2 counts. Firstly, I watched in the Granada region and never ever saw a Night Time Back Shortly slide with music - it was always ads, trailers and promos. Secondly, given the upbeat nature of the show, I can't think of a more inappropriate piece of intermission music to play. Were they trying to send the Night Time audience to sleep? Great clip though!

Yes it's from Tyne Tees.
They did this until about 1993/4 and then PIFs, trailers and the occasional advert filled the gaps. But every single ad break up to that point was filled with the Back Shortly slide.
As turkeytreat pointed out, there were more upbeat library pieces played but there seemed to be no attempt to match the music with the tone of the programmes shown. I think, in fact, the same piece of music was repeated in each break during the entire night.
Thanks for the praise btw.
