    filter the syrup.I want to try it on a smaller

    scale.

  • It needs to be around 218 degrees F. You do need to filter it. You should really find a book or a website giving more details.

  • Buy a hydrometer, they are about $10 and will tell you exactly when it's syrup.  Also, get a pack of paper syrup filters or one thick wool felt filter to filter out the niter which are minerals from the trees (and other junk)
