Coach Nick breaks down all the possessions where Mark Jackson ran HORNS last night in their game against the Dallas Mavericks. They ran some creative wrinkles out of the set, and Dallas Coach Rick Carlisle made some good adjustments on defense. In the end, it created enough mismatches to cause a key play in the 4th that helped the Warriors pull this game out.

Why is lee --> Marion such a big mismatch? Marion is a great defensive player and only just shorter

He's too small to guard David Lee - nothing against Marion's great defense...

Absolutely works with 4- normally the 5th guy doesn't have much movement in it anyway, which is why I like triangle better, since 5 guys move together.

When the team switches, it should open up a pivot by the screener to open up to the ball and get a great scoring chance.

I'm not trying to play coach. I'm just looking at new plays that we can run as a team during pickup ball. To u, pickup ball might be just isolations and screen and rolls. To me, it's more than that. It's execution.

But nobody runs exclusively horns, right? It is there to break things up. Variety is life's greatest treat.

This shows why I'm a bigger fan of the triangle/Princeton offense This video shows how horns is able to break down, just like any other offense, but at least there are more options in the Princeton or triangle to compensate for better shot selection.

The Wolves no longer run Triangle I believe. They did when Rambis was coach. I don't think Rick Adelman runs much of a triangle offense.
