Here's some footage that Nablus TV was kind enough to share with me. It's basically raw footage without much editing. This shows the opening day of the latest Israeli invasion of Nablus. They attacked the Muquata (again); it was partially destroyed in 2001. It was the home of the city hall, the interior ministry, and a police station and prison.

On the first day, three people were killed. As far as I know, they were just innocent bystanders, though it's possible one was a resistance fighter. One of the people killed was the son of one of the producers at Nablus TV.

Like I talked about in the last video, the invasion cut Nablus off from the refugee camps, where we give a lot of our classes. A French volunteer was in Balata camp at the time; I hope to post a short interview with her soon.

Even just looking at the video again at the TV station made me sad. Scores of people were killed and injured, and the life of the city was totally disrupted for days. As far as we can tell, this was basically the Israelis taking revenge for a soldier who was killed in the old city. Ha'aretz had an absurd story today about there being Hizb'allah fighters in the Nablus city hall; glance at a map to see how laughable that assertion is.

  • this area look like five star hotel... lol

  • Maybe I shouldn't have approved sp3cs's comment, but I think it's instructive. According to his profile he's Israeli, and here he is laughing at the wanton destruction that his country's army causes on a regular basis. He claims to be 57 - he should be old enough to know better, but alas, he reacts with the glee of a destructive five year old.

    Disgusting.

  • why are you angry? i dont know what u talk about i love palistin :)

  • sp3cs is "laughing out loud" at the fact that his country's army has reduced the Nablus city hall to rubble. Sp3cs, perhaps you'd like to explain what you mean by laughing at death and destruction?

I'm not angry so much as I am saddened. I pity you.

  • I don't really understand the logic behind destroying an empty Palestinian government building more than a hundred kilometers inside Israel, claiming Hizbullah were there.

Are you sure you're not mistaken? (just because that is so blatantly untrue)

  • Yes, I was there. As far as I can tell, it was basically an act of revenge and collective punishment by the army, maybe because two soldiers were ambushed shortly before. Soldiers sometimes come for targeted assasinations and such.

BTW, the distances in Palestine are smaller, the building's non-destroyed parts were being used, and there was an 18 year old hiding in it. He survived, and gave an interview on the radio.

  • sp3cs: first add an E to your name you ignorant.

second for us Nabulsi people it is a 5 star hotel. to you it will be the grave yard nshallah ya ben zona..

BTW this idiot didnt know that this part of Nablus is the OLD city which is like 1000 years old and still standing appart from areas where the IDF knocked clean.

  • amen

  • The Palestinian tragedy has been overlooked since 1948. The Silence of the sellout Arab leaders and recent israeli invasion of lebanese lands has made it easier for israel to carry out vicious war crimes against them in front of a world that has Zero Care about Palestinian but has Zero tolerance for "antisemites".
