  • I would love to play a Doctor Who game wherein you create your own Doctor. It starts with Ten saying "I don't want to go." and then he regenerates and then you get to make your own regeneration of the Doctor. It would be soo cool!

  • holy shit, i thought this was lost forever...

  • @BigRedUnderpants1 but the episode after that troughton said he'd been renewed.

  • @x170063 - Well he'd been getting weaker throughout The Tenth Planet, presumably it was old age. He actually said that his old body was wearing a bit thin. At the end he collapsed and that was when he regenerated.

  • @x170063 he regenerated because he died of old age........ i think

  • @seph1r0th400 its highlighted a lot in some of the later 1st Doctor books particularly "Ten Little Aliens", the Doctor's almost fearful of what will happen

  • @destinyson23

Actually it was intended that The Doctor was being affected by Mondas's energy drain. But this didn't come across well in the final version. [Truth]

It's also widely held that the energy drain in the earlier story 'The Savages' and being aged/deaged in 'The Daleks Masterplan' also took their toll. [Fanon?]

  • sniff :)

  • @whosammut I was ery glad to see that the original effect was kept. Far too many videos replace the old regenerations with the new style ones, which don't really work in context. This is more of a slight re-edit with different music. Good effort. Thumbs up from me...

  • @x170063 I don't think it is ever properly explained as to why. I think the general presumption is just that this Doctor regenerated due to "old age". Apparently, in the last episode of tenth planet, he gets more and more confused and stumbles back to the TARDIS.
