Using plywood, two garage door springs, metal pieces, fiberglass and my dad's help, I built a small, yet powerful catapult. The device is not powered by a counterweight; instead, two springs with a combined force of 190 pounds cause a throwing arm to whirl around, launching a projectile off the end of a lacrosse stick. At the moment, it's still dangerous and without a firing pin, but it's a lot of fun to use (and watch). Enjoy!

P.S: That's my mom firing the catapult. Brave, isn't she?

  • Understandably, the catapult isn't finished just yet. It still needs a firing pin, and it could stand to be a bit more stable... :-) Additionally, no, this thing isn't going to smash any records. I'm well aware that your catapult/trebuchet, oh seasoned youtube user, is much better than mine, and that my design is extremely flawed, and that... yes, yes, I understand. Snicker if you wish.
