Don loved Cherry, Cherry-then a big hit on radio-so he asked Jeff Barry if I had anything else that his group might like. Jeff and I went over to see Don. I knew I was making it because it was the first time I had ever been invited to this kingmakers office. We played my upcoming album version of Im A Believer for Don, who loved it for the group. Jeff went out to L.A. and came back with the number one selling single of the year. Im A Believer established me as a writer, Cherry, Cherry as a hit artist. Suddenly I was a double threat and hot as a pistol.
