Bodiam castle was completed around 1370 by local lords paid for by booty stolen in France during the hundred years war. At that time it was on the sea, via a number of inlets although the sea is today quite distant.
The castle fell into ruin but was restored by the then foreign minister Lord Curzon (noted for drawing up a plan for the eastern border of Poland in 1919).
A wonderful castle to see.

Lovely pictures - will try to visit this summer, just over an hour away by car, traffic jams permitting! Just wondering what are the orange numbers at the bottom right of the video for? Slightly distracting, other than that a great show.

I was messing around with the camera and the date came on all the pictures!
I started filming a couple of months later so this is just about the last photo show!
A wonderful castle to see - and close to the south coast also!
