Harry Knox, Director of the Human Rights Campaign's Religion and Faith Program, calls for action against the American Family Association's lie-based political ad, "Speechless: Silencing Christians." The hour long documentary is set to air ahead of Congressional debate on hate crimes laws.

  • it sickens me...that they say protecting gays from violence is the same as silencing christians from spewing their stupid propaganda.

Christians saying their persecuted is the ultimate irony, when it's still not even possible for a non-Christian to become president.

  • No it's the way your pastors have used the Bible to harm and abuse God's gay and lesbian children that is sinful.

  • Say for instance I believe that homosexuality is NOT inborn I will be excoriated as a homophobe or that I am not only stupid but uninformed . However science currently backs my statement. True many have come forward with "proof" of a genetic causality, but when put through the scientific method the claims always fail.

  • The only hate and lies I see come from people who would put a tiny fraction of a populace in a "protected" class to silence the debate on their chosen lifestyle. If hate crimes laws WON'T infringe upon another persons rights then show the proof. As we see in other countries this isn't the case. When one groups rights are considered "more right" than another we end up in a position where even the discussion of certain topics will get you attacked.

  • I've done some digging on the claims made in the video of silencing christians. They are all matters of public record and backed by evidence. To deny the unintended consequence of infringing on a certain groups rights does not stop said infringement. Hate crimes laws are redundant, and punish peoples thoughts rather than actions. Assault is assault regardless of motivation.

  • @Redbob86 please give an example of how homosexuality is a self destructive lifestyle

  • lol

  • How is homosexuality "self-destructive" or in any way like being an alcoholic? Where do you get these ideas? Where do you get the outrageous idea that your attacks against what you view as "watching someone destroy themselves" isn't hateful? You and your kind spend too much time worrying about where I stick my dick, and that says an awful lot more about you than it does any of us.

  • 52% isn't an "overwhelming majority," And we don't base our laws on the tyranny of the majority, for if we did, blacks wouldn't be able to marry whites, and slavery would still be legal. Thankfully, the world is turning its back against your brand of bigotry and your kind will be relegated to the dustbin of history's biggest haters.

  • A popular vote ALWAYS goes against civil rights, from the Civil Rights Movement to interracial marriage. You don't put rights to a vote. Marriage is a legal contract endorsed by the government, and the government shouldn't give a shit what your god does or doesn't say. Other than religion, there is no valid reason to deny marriage to gays. Against nature? 1500 species have homosexual tendencies. Foundation of society? Look up ancient Greek sexuality for a shock. Tradition? Arbitrary. Move on.

  • Talking about silence, free speech, destruction... Think really hard: Who are the ones really silencing? Who are the ones that are being destructive to others? ... Having the right to free speech doesn't equate to having the right to defame... Defamatory speech ought to be silenced... If someone said that, for instance, Christians were lunatic so we shouldn't trust them, that wouldn't be right, don't you think? ... I mean think, just think, that's all you need to do, seriously...
