  • How long do we have to wait until the health and safety gestapo disappear up their own arses? God forbid, he jumped from the platform, and he didn't even have a hi viz or hard hat on. How on Earth did he survive?

  • It is ridiculous that you are arguing over the station pilot hopping 3ft off the platform. he is a qualified and trained worker, this is the reason you can no longer walk lineside to get photos of just wander round diesel depots anymore, not because the world is any unsafer but because such a fuss is made and people will sue companies at any opportunity.

  • why is everyone moaning about a man jumping 3ft off a platfrom, get over i,t you only live once, sooo stop moaning.

  • He knew the train was not going to move because he has two eyes on the front of his head, very often these eyes acually face the way he walks. Not only eyes he has the added feature of ears and a memory, he just walked the platform and knew the only engine able to run was on the other line which would give him give or take a little, ten minutes. He would need to set the points to do this. Please bring back common old common sense . God, do a risk assesment before you fart!

  • @Kokoots Ha ha love that!! God he was taking a risk!! He must have jumped all of 5 foot, and no hi-viz....how dear he?! Hes a lucky lucky man!! Health and safety? What a load of fuckin' shite!!

  • wow thoes trains must palute the inviorment

  • As a health and safety trainer in Australia in the railways and ex BR what the guy did was silly how did he know that there was no loco on the other end, how did he know the Air/vacuum brakes where on. its poeple like this that spoil it for the rest of us

  • Nice!

  • At first, I thought he was some chav in shell-suit bottoms going round to give some lip to the crew !

  • Us Stationary engine enthsiasts have the same problem, the government want to tax us something like £2000 for owning the old motors and ho are they going to enforce that?

Your not allowed compressors without certificates of "safety" and as for 240V generators, well, thats another storey.

Health and safety should just be common sence but know we have have all this way over the top crap.

  • I don't know what all the fuss is about? If the man made a calculated risk of his jump it would be no fault but his own if he fell. Anyway, if its Health & Safety you are worried about, what about all these light-weight trains we have flying around the network at 125mph! I'd rather have a loco hauled train anyday because they don't jump off the rails at the slightest whiff of a landrover.
