The strong euro is causing more and more problems, especially for European businesses that rely on trade with the US. One badly affected company is BMW. The car manufacturer lost half a billion dollars in 2007 thanks to the unfavorable exchange rate. Selling cars made in Europe to US customers is no longer profitable so BMW is expanding production in the US.
Meanwhile, more and more European workers are losing their jobs. Over the next few years, the company plans to make 8,000 employees redundant. But if the dollar gets stronger, the company may have to rethink its plans. Manuel Özcerkes investigates.
Make all the cars you want but if people can't afford them your job security is nil. How is that tax..tax..tax...control freak Obama working out for ya? Eric, if you like freedom and the idea of keeping your money and identity... don't vote for Obama!
