Jenny Ford, former chairman of the Bentley Drivers Club, and Doug Salmon, owner of a spectacular 1929 "Speed Six", are interviewed prior to the "Official Start" of the Bentley Drivers Club`s North East USA Tour, which departed for a three thousand mile tour of the U.S. east coast from in front of the B&O Railroad Museum in historic Ellicott City, Maryland on 4 September 2009.
Vintage, as well as a few "modern" Bentleys, had been shipped to the Port of Baltimore from England, Scotland, Belgium, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand for the tour which, as I write (5 September 2009) is taking them from Maryland north to Pennsylvania, New York, New England, back south to Maryland`s Eastern Shore, Colonial Williamsburg and back to their various homes in late September.
The exceptions are a couple of the ancient Bentleys which had been shipped from Australia and New Zealand to the U.S. for a 5000 mile tour of Alaska, then driven across the U.S. to participate in this tour(!!)
It`s puzzling that the local TV station chose as background music "La Marseillaise", the French national anthem. While Bentleys were present from all over the world, none were here from France. Go figure....
