Haha, me too! I'm a second-generation Italian-American born and raised in the mostly Italian neighborhood of Bensonhurst in Brooklyn, New York. My father's parents emigrated from Naples and my mother's from Caserta.
I really, really want to visit Canada again. This time, though, I'm going to focus on discovering the Italian communities there. I'm really glad that the language and culture is thriving so well there! We could use a boost in some of these areas here in New York.

I find it so interesting how your Canadian, yet your "Italian accent" (Canadian-born of Italian descent accent) is so similar to the accents of Americans of Italian ancestry from big cities like New York, Boston or Chicago.
While all of these regional accents are different, the Italians in these places speak with a nearly identical tone/intonation. Their speech clearly reflects the way Southern Italian dialects are spoken.
Have you noticed this, as well?
