San Diego, the landing was a little harder than it appears on film and you can hear the Flight Attendant comment as we slow to exit runway 27.

  • No reverse was used, as it was not needed on that landing. It is to the pilots discretion to use it or not. Preserves engine life.

  • Originally I didn't think reverse was engaged - but if you listen really closely you can hear that it was used at idle thrust ... but yes it is an option ..

  • I miss the MD80, what a great bird.

  • Yep great take off performance .. if a little gutless at higher levels .. great workhorse.

  • @AcePilotFilms Pilots wouldnt be stupid, it's their choice. I know alot of AE pilots that disregard the use of reverse thrust because it uses alot of fuel.

  • @Boeing757200A im not trying to be on your video, im trying to state to you that its a rule that reverse thrust is required during ALL landings. would the pilots be that stupid to disobey a regulation such as that?

  • @AcePilotFilms who said the FAA would know anything? The FAA is the administration, not the group of proffesional airline pilots. BTW, have you ever thought about trying not to be all over someone elses video?

  • @Boeing757200A im not bragging, im telling you that I heard the reversers, therefore they were used.

  • @AcePilotFilms Bragging over the internet is obviously pointless.

  • @DeadlyInertia the MD-80's reverse thrusts are located on the back of the plane, therefore from your view you can faintly hear them. i have good ears and i can hear them at 0:51, can you not?

  • @AcePilotFilms So, if they are always used.... Why not on a quite amount of YouTubee videos?

  • @DeadlyInertia uhhh....yes it is. you can ask the faa if you dont believe me

  • @marineman2031 just so you know, reverse thrust is always used during touchdown unless of an emergency or dangerous wind conditions
