  • There are oil seeps way up in Northern California, too. One of the first oil plays I worked was up near Eureka and the dairy farmers would walk me over to show me seeps on their property. They were selling the oil from these seeps before Drake drilled his first well in Pennsylvania. Used to be a town up there called Petrolia which is now just a few old buildings. Some seeps exist in the hills around Santa Cruz, too. I would love to find some old pics of these operations.

  • It's interesing at how you find this occuring at the southern end of the central valley but as you go north this activity disapates. I think Coalinga is about as far north as it gets.

  • I like the smell of crude oil.
