But Calvin stood on the shoulders of Luther, as did Zwingli. So to butterfly away Luther is to butterfly away both of those. It's true that there probably WOULD have been a reaction to the abuses of the Church at the time, but we can't know who, where or when...or how successful that reaction would have been. Thank God for Martin Luther: The guy had big brassy balls when push came to shove :)

My only problem with this is people always think he was trying to break away from the Catholic church when he wasn't. He wanted them to reform and when they refused he broke away but I do like this video
