Good match. A draw. Not exactly a big surprise since there was no way Gagne was going to leave the AWA belt in Japan and no way Baba's belt was going to leave Japan.

These finishes were pretty typical in title vs title matches. The champs split one fall apiece then the 3rd fall is a inconclusive finish like a countout or DQ.

Not entirely true. Dory & Terry Funk & The Destroyer were all huges faces in Japan.

I don't want to be sarcast, they are two leggend but ..in this match both don't look very menacing (one is skinny with a lousy body , the other is 70 years old )
