Hey, Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better.

Not everything about progress is bad. Life expectancy has doubled. Quality of life has improved 10-fold. Leisure time has doubled. Global travel has multiplied 1000X. The third world is on the verge of gaining access to energy and the internet. That's a game-changer, because little rural villages will be able to find a market niche and fill it.

Those figures are available for anyone with the desire to know the truth. I've received "inside" info from a friend who works for a company that performs maintenance on solar power facilities. He said his company's contracts exceed the value of the electrical energy supplied by the equipment they are servicing. His company would go "belly up" were it not for gov't (tax payer) support. So now we tax payers pay 10X for electric from solar + costs to maintain the equipment -- what a racket!

Go look at the money trail. The fossil fuel industry receives more funding than do the green industries from the government. Green industries are hardly cash cows compared to the old boys club that is the fossil fuel empire that owns congress. Have you seen the profits the oil companies make. It's the sort of profit margin that would make a cartel leader jealous. In the end money is just make-believe crap. What isn't make believe is the smoking cinder that will be left of the world we call home.

It would be true if mankind was not so abysmal at said management. It's like putting a retarded monkey in charge of building and maintaining your computer network. Your network will be a smoking ruin before long. Just look at history. We defile the land rather than "manage" it. Areas larger than the USA have been turned into completely infertile deserts by our awesome land management skills in the past and it continues today. We do not manage, we consume.
