This fly-through shows the 3D model of a gutted factory that was to be converted to modern living spaces. The facility was laser scanned, creating a point cloud that was used to create the model.

  • Thanks! It was modeled using AutoDesk Architecture, with Leica's CloudWorx plugin. Once the model was created, it was brought into VIZ for textures and rendering.

Unfortunately, the video does not showcase the true challenge in the model. All interior portions of the facility needed to be accurate within +/- 1/4"! Every one of those columns were individually created, as they were NOT identical.

    Thanks for your interest!

  • @PMCvideos you should try Pro/ENGINEER, a CAD by PTC. I've used it and it's pretty great

  • Very nice model. What software do you use to model from a point cloud?
