@SonnyLondon1 The Mogul Emperors were kicked out by the British (East India Company) under the command of Robert Clive. 'British India' came under the Crown after the Mutiny of 1857, but that only included East India Company land. Princely India remained independent but relied on the British for survival. The resolution of the problem and the birth of the Raj came in 1887 when the British monarch became Emperor of India. George V had as much right to be Emperor as you do to live in London.
