My before Xmas present ;-) Sorry for the dark video quality, it was too late in the evening, but I don't want repeat it again after the good placement.
The successor system of S400 with a new possibility to connect L and R rear speakers to a real 5.1 system. Virtual surround now up to 7.1 for all possible blue ray sounds. Additional the connection of the apple products via USB, controlling via Yamaha remote control, and USB stick or hard disk to play mp3 (up to 320kbit/s), wav, AAC sounds. The material and design of the system is much better than S400. It is more professional or higher-quality. The surround sound is perfect, not real 7.1 or 5.1 but it is near by. The down fire subwoofer is great, big boom, and dry sound without any distortion or hum. The sound system is perfect for each user which don't like many wires of the loudspeakers. Only one common wire to the sound bar, that's it. Each wife will be lucky!!! I can recommend the purchase of the Yamaha System, 4 stars from five, because I'm missing one HDMI cable.

  • ...and finally, the USB only supports Apple iPod. WTF! My HTC doesn't work. Hopefully a firmware update will soon be available for HTC, and other phone makes. I hate Apple!

  • @PhuxAche1972

You can use the Audio IN Chinch connectors, adapter cable from HTC to Chinch and then you are ready.

  • is the sound bar wall mountable?

  • @MrLezporl

Yes, even there is paper drilling template for the wall installation.

  • The bass is ok. Downfire active subwoofer. It depends on the room size. My room is 33qm and the bass is really suficient. You can adjust the frequency limit from 200Hz down to 120Hz. Normal position is 150Hz. At the remote control you directly set the intensity from -6 up to +6. If have chosen the level +3 for movie. For music you have to reduce it to level 0 or -1, especially for big HipHop or R&B bass sequences.

  • The 400 System sounds not so good for music part. There are too much middle tones, I'm missing the high tone qualtity. 401 system design is much better.

  • ..... Upon opening my YHT-S401 (as it's so described on the box packaging), and removing it, I notice that the bloody AMP has SR-301 on it! I did notice this in the showroom, and the demo model also had SR-301 marked on it. I had a brief look at your vid, and thankfully, managed to pause and "up" the brightness and you also have SR-301 on your AMP also! What is that all about??? (sighs some relief though :) )

  • Dude. I just got this today for £500. The Bass is a bit "BOOMY", but after some fine adjustment, I got it to settle. Also, it depends where you situate it on the room. I thought there was too many mid tones also, and eventually found the BASS-TREBLE options. I just turned the Treble right up and so much better. Also I am getting lag with my Toshiba Regza LED, so I need to mess around with the delay settings..... and one more thing that I have to post on another comment........

  • Man hört es immer, wenn ein Deutscher Englisch spricht^^

Am besten mal mehr Filme auf Englisch anschauen ;)

  • I think I want this. How is the bass for music and movies?
