Some species of birds prefer "edge" habitats—where forested areas meet fields and open areas; others prefer interior woodlands. In densely populated areas, there's typically more edge. What's the impact on bird populations? To find out, Professor Mary Ann Cunningham and URSI fellow Laurel Walker conducted early-morning bird surveys in various Dutchess County locations.
