New Jersey Greyhound Adoption Program (NJGAP) volunteer foster family recollection of their first walk with rescued greyhound, Bella.

Since 1993, New Jersey Greyhound Adoption Program (NJGAP.COM) has placed 2,000 rescued racing greyhounds into adoptive families. Volunteers donate their time to pick-up the dogs from rescue trailers, bath and groom, and provide a foster home until the dogs are placed into a permanent home. From the perspective of this agency, there is an endless supply of dogs. To see more images from this photo essay, go to mendittophoto.com

  • My family will be adopting a rescued greyhound by the end of the month. They are such beautiful dogs, I can't wait to take him of her on their first walk :)

  • I am hopefully getting a Greyhound from a rescue in May sometime. I cant wait! :D

  • short and sweet :) I would love to adopt a greyhound someday!

  • I have an ex-Florida racing grey too. We live in PA and sometimes I have to cary mine too. Our girl is not a big fan of walking on ice.

  • What a sweet baby! I remember when our Rounder had no concept of what it was to just walk down the street with a human. He was constantly tripping me by crossing my path or knocking his full 76 lbs into my legs. We're much better now. (:

  • greyt!!

  • Love her shoes! And what a long nose!
