@icingoutofkey You are forgetting that MOST European television shows FORCE the performers to use playback, its always been like this. ESPECIALLY in the 80s, playback was huge. When you are signed into a contract with a record label you have to do television shows for promotional purposes, so yeah it isn't Morrissey's fault that hes not actually singing. If you don't like it well neither does he, so go watch a live performance from one of his actual shows.

well since Morrissey was in The Smiths he seems to like make jokes when he sings on playback for example the Smiths TOTP when he sings with some flowers instead of the microphone

Um. Neverminding the fact that it sounds LITERALLY the same as the album, notice how Morrissey will take the microphone away from his mouth yet the sound still comes?
Obviously he's not really performing.
