Ok safety stands better than just spotters, but, on top of still dangerous, bench pressing is not even a natural or functional movement anyway in life, not useful for heavy works, gymnastic, climbing, other sports. Why has it become so important as benchmark of strength? You can press with safer dumbells, develop chest through variations of dumbell flies. If you insist on wanting that very type of steady motion, do deep weighted push ups instead: you'll meet the safer floor instead than the bar

it didnt work as well because his chest is too big and he needs to raise the safety stands up

That's because your belly is too big and they weren't high enough.
