The Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe (German: "Swallow") was the world's first operational turbojet fighter aircraft. It was produced in World War II and saw action starting in 1944 as a multi-role fighter/bomber/reconnaissance/interceptor warplane for the Luftwaffe. German pilots nicknamed it the "Sturmvogel," (Stormbird) while the Allies called it the "Turbo." The Me 262 had a negligible impact on the course of the war due to its late introduction, with 509 claimed Allied kills (although higher claims are sometimes made), against more than 100 Me 262 losses.

  • @IVANGROZNEY Nazi technology was advanced for its time, but you are right. Their argued "vast superiority" is way overblown. The reason they had all these odd projects was because of Hitler's obsession with superweapons. Thus they squandered their little resources into making unreliable jets (jumo engines could combust if throttled too quickly), oversized tanks, and hastily designed rocket fighters that did more damage to themselves than to the allies.

  • @D3cyTH3r its something make a rocket something very different make a jet. Rockets were made already in the year 1400

  • @giuseppeRraimondo: lets not forget William Hale (1797-1870) -british rocket pioneer; and the american Robert Hutchings Goddard (1882 -1945) -who inspired the german engineer Wehrner von Braun

  • @lukum55 were were the britsh going to get that tegnology? if it was invented from 0 by german engeniers

  • @IVANGROZNEY first, they were TON of great nazi tech advantage,The american space program is a continuation of the german space program,if you search how uild most of the appolos you will see that in all of them there was a german. They couldnt end the A-bomb, for 3 resons.Hitler thoucht it would get nowere,it spended too many resourses, and the war ended before they could get it,They never made heavy bombesr becuase they used precision bombers, and they had Aircraft carriers like the GrafZeppelin

  • @Ca1861 Did not matter for Britain that was short range. The reason they went to 4 engine was to carry enough fuel for long range.

  • @lukum55 There was never any great nazi tech advantage. How did they do on Atom bombs, Aircraft carriers, heavy bombers and coordinated mobile artilery? That last one seriously put them at a major disadantage in the field. P-80s coming on line were superior to 262's. Pershings and Centurions that just came in near the end were better than tigers.

  • @junkers1337

If they would have halted the war and started it in maybe around 1944 with Me 262 Im sure that the British would have soon had their own jet fighter and so the German advantage would have been lost.

  • @huurux be happy about it. i hope you don't support the nazi regime
