Swedish vampire film about a 12 year old boy who gets bullied named Oskar. He forms this bond with a girl who he later finds out is a vampire who teaches him to stand up for himself. This innocent bond they form together carries throughout the movie in how they look after one another. Best vampire movie of the year.

  • The film makes you feel so sorry for eli tortured forever as a 12 year old her mind never seemed to matured over 200 years

  • I agree, but I thought it was only 80 years, not 200. Not like that makes a difference. But the conclusion may be that even after all the years, she's still just a little girl at heart.

  • I dare say it was the best film I saw in 2008, a year filled with amazing movies, the thing about it that really got me was how unique the story was, and the unconventional ending, completely awesometacular

  • am with you 100% on everything you said :D

  • @haymaker710 True but I found myself more horrified at the bullying than the decapitated head. The bloody scenes were more mellow and bittersweet than gory.

  • Agree, a very sweet friendship the two had which really made it work. I don't blame Kristen Stewart for getting into it, the movie was a hit and the rest will follow and she will cash out.

  • It is excellent. Very dark and yet the friendship between Oskar and Eli is very sweet in a way. The ending is awesome. How Kristen Stewart got into this Twilight crap I'll never know. See "Speak" or "Adventureland". I can't wait for "Welcome to the Rileys" she's a stripper in that.

  • Those were more graphic scenes, but still I believe the story was more about the characters and emotions between the two opposed to the blood and gore, it was more of a side thing. That's why I don't consider it a horror.

  • I see what you're saying. You give people something to compare.

I still think of LTROI horror because of all the blood and gore. Eli did rip a boys head off after all. And their first kiss was after Eli ripped a man's throat out and her face was covered in blood.

  • You are right, I just compared them since they were the two bigger names vampire movies, it gives the audience something to compare to, also gives them the option of different type of stories. They are completely different movies, ones a tweeny bopper movie, the other is a more character based emotional tale, wouldn't consider it horror though.

  • Why would you compare LTROI to Twilight? Just because they both have vampires in them doesn't put them in the same category. LTROI is a deeply affecting horror film while Twilight is a sappy high school drama. You wouldn't compare Interview with a Vampire to Buffy would you?
