@torchwoodjackharknes Not knocking the ABA, but CBS certainly didn't embrace it. From 1970-74 they showed the ABA All Star Game and some Saturday afternoon playoff games (starting with the 1970 Pacers-Stars finals), but that was it. I wonder if anyone has the open to those, it was kind of cool with a fish-eye video and snappy music.

Don't knock the ABA it was the home of the late, great Kentucky Colonels...Dan Issel and Artis Gilmore were great together

In the early 70's, ABC had the NBA and NBC had the NCAA tournament. So CBS had to settle for the NIT and a few ABA games. When CBS got the NBA in 1974, they wanted to brag that they now had "the best in basketball", hence this theme song.

Might be pretty lame now....but when you're a 9-10 yr old kid waiting all week to watch ONE game it was music to my ears! Yeah, I'm old
