Well I'm sittin' right here in my rockin chair
Running my fingers right through my hair
Fire is flicken with a yellow and gold
Makin me quiver in the snowy cold
Got a lazy old woman
Screaming bout my money
She took every cent
And she didn't leave me any

Times were never so good, got a fly for food
Got no woman to spend my money
Well she blew and took all my money

So I'm sittin' right here in my rockin chair
Running my fingers right through my hair
Spider caught the fly in his web
Do believe he may be dead

Times were never so good, got a fly for food
Got no woman to spend my money
Well she blew and took all my money

Well I'm sittin' and I'm sittin' and I'm sittin' right here
In my rockin chair
Watchin' my old dog loosing his hair

    man, you're dumb.

  • Wonderful tune simple but truly tom

  • Watchin' my old dog loosing his hair.

    How does he do that?!

    Sentences can be art.

Like when you see a certain painting and you just have to look at it twice, something in it, is keeping your attention. Asif it tells an everlasting story you have to listen to for a minute.

That can be true with sentences and Tom Waits makes em.

He doesnt always sounds like he's barking...

Eventho that was what dragged me to him, I feel deep respect for his softer voice.

  • @machinist18 this is undoubtedly tom waits, goofball! lovely and simple tune, with waits' wry humour.

  • i do love the early years as much as i love the later years with the wicked voice and amazing instrumentals

Of course it's Tom Wiats. It's just one one of his earlier songs, when his voice was a little bit different. Listen to songs like Blue Skies, I hope I don't fall in love with you, In between love, or I'm your late night evening prostitute. I find it little weird people sometimes feel suprised by Tom's earlier songs- his voice. For me the way it evolved is logical and even though his voice got a lot more rough due to all the drinking and smoking, it sounds like Tom Waits.
