For some of you, the tempo may seem fast, but then take a look at the tempo indications which Mahler wrote: feierlich und gemessen, ohne zu schleppen. This is not just a funeral march, but a parodie of a funeral march for the dead hunter as celebrated by the animals of the forest :-)
