People today just have no idea how popular ALF became in the late 80s. I mean, he was everywhere, tv, talk shows, comic books, 2 animated tv shows, kid's meal toys, he was everywhere.

At the end of the original series, ALF is taken into custoby by the US military. Then years later, they did a TV movie called Project: ALF that revealed that he living on a military base and due for termination. The movie ended with ALF getting a high ranking within the branch since he was kind of already running things from within as it was at the start of the film. The Tanners were written off as living in Iceland and weren't even seen in the movie.
