bit of useless info: a SSFDR for an Airbus A320 cost around £160'000.00, and an ECU is £256'000.00

mmm, something tells me you shouldn't have that. Hopefully you managed to obtain a black box from a discontinued aircraft and not one that actually went down.

That would be my guess as the guy I bought it from sells all sorts of old aircraft parts on ebay

id like to hack one of these into an external hard drive like see if i can use the original memory for storing files, and id like to hack a cockpit voice recorder into a regular voice recorder or something so you can play it back right on the device and not need to download the data maybe hack it into an mp3 player i dunno id find a use for these things, BTW did you ever figger out how to open the tape, the part you didnt know how to open
