In China in 1975, 90,000 lives were saved when a whole city was evacuated several hours before a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck. The evacuation was based purely on the unusual behaviour of local animals: cattle lay down in the road and cockerels began crowing in the day. The cartoon you are about to see is based on this true event. Graham Norton, Miranda Richardson and Andrew Sachs star.

  • what did you use to animate it

  • @ranoman And needless pain and suffering absolutely should not be inflicted on any creature. I have vast compassion towards living things. I just know its impossible to harm NONE; why, with each step I take upon the grass I likely crush unknowingly a thousand insects, though I will avoid stepping on one if I can see it. Eating meat does not show any lack of compassion. Eating meat shows that humans evolved to eat some meat.

  • @ranoman no worries; Im enjoying the exchange. H.sapiens, being HUMAN, 23 pairs of chromosomes arranged just so, makes a creature a person. So of course a retarded human would be a human being. And so would those with genetic mistakes. They are as human, even if chromosome 23 has three instead of two. Hurting is not by default bad if the gain is more than the cost. Kids will say vaccinations HURT; should we then not vaccinate due to their tears? I seek for the most good, and the least harm.

  • @SRebecca71 I can see though, that we won't get anywhere through argument. You are fixed on your point of view, as am I. Its just that certain things such as this, get get me riled up. To me it is obvious that I shouldn't hurt another living thing. In the same way, your view is obvious to you.

I believe though, that if we try to make ourselves more compassionate towards all living things, then we can be more compassionate towards each other as well. It is just an attempt at a better world.

  • @SRebecca71 What is it that makes a person, a person ? You differentiate people from other animals by degree of intelligence. So by your classification mentally challenged people would not be considered persons.

Nothing limits nor governs what I can and cannot do, aside from whatever is physically impossible. Its simply choice of not doing things. I choose not to hurt others, because I wish no harm to be done to myself. The only difference is I extend this choice to all capable of pain.

  • @ranoman It makes things easy to classify them. You prefer the PC term "mentally challenged"? Thats classifying em. A rose is a rose by any name; better to call a thing what it IS, not what youd prefer it to be. If you want to eat your dog, fine by me. Its your dog. Id not give you "the evil eye". In fact, Ive been told by a few who have eaten dog that its delicious. And you can BELIEVE all you wish you could eat people; you cant however ACTUALLY do so. Its a person, not a dog or a cow.

  • @SRebecca71 for the sake of argument, why should the courtesy be extended to people who CANT think or reason (Retards as you refer to them bluntly, I don't like classifying people though). I believe if their intelligence is as lackluster as that of a dog or a cow, I should have the right to eat "retards", we need to eat em I say. I also believe I should be aloud to eat my dog without you giving me the evil eye, and the government profiling me as an animal abuser.

  • @ranoman those rights apply to HUMANS...not to cows. If you dislike eating meat, then dont, but if I do, its not right for YOU to deny me cause of YOUR dislike...THAT is self centered, Id say. Of course cows and chickens can sense and feel pain...how though and why though does it follow that I shouldnt eat said animal? It doesnt. What follows is that because they feel pain, we should NOT inflict needless pain on such creatures. We need to eat em.

  • @ranoman Because I am a person, and it is a cow. I like meat. My desires certainly do trump those of a non human, any day. Of course humans should not be property due to our thinking and reasoning ability, and that courtesy is extended to those retarded humans who CANT think or reason. Animals, however, ARE property. And no, if some "superior" E.T came to Earth, because he is superior, hed recognize that humans with their ability to think and reason, should NOT be property.

  • @dukeraider2 I'm not saying I'm a saint, in fact i was just masturbating 15 minutes ago (Ooops, Is that wrong?),

Jokes aside... I know what pain is, and i know what desire is. I know my life is precious to me, and i cherish it, as well i cherish the lives of those i love. But also i cherish the lives of others, because they too have desires, feel pain, and cherish life. Without reasonable doubt, i believe other animals are also capable of all of these. I wish only to be compassionate.
