As a special forfeit for the "Germany" XL episode on the G series / Series G anyone who mentioned "The War" got penalised by losing points. Sean Lock was particularly involved in this.
Just in case you are wondering where the catchphrase is taken from it be "Fawlty Towers".

Wait a second .. when Alan (is it?) mimics the PM calling the German Chancellor and saying "We won" ... how they know he didn't mean the '66 World Cup? eh? ah ha! ;)

Germans do constantly come into Holland though, it's for the beaches, even though weather here blows.

"Don't mention the war" got me thinking about when a Swedish comedian went to Japan to do some standup comedy in a documentary about humor in different cultures.
They gave him a list before of topics he could NOT joke about (including the world war, suicide, etc), but instead he made a joke containing every single thing on the list and then told it a bit into his performance... The entire crowd went completely silent, except for one short, nervous laugh from some guy, then he had to leave lol
