Television was still sort of new and multiple channels were still an oddity television was magic. But everybody, yes everybody from my college wanted to be Craig Stevens, carry themselves that way, dress that well,and have that magic with a woman who carried herself the way Lola Albright could. we must have burned a dozen years learning to be happy with oursleves and accepting the fact that we could never be Peter Gunn...It was that important to us.

This actually happened at an Italian restaurant I used to work at as a
fortune teller, which I later found out was mob-oriented. Fortunately it
happened on my day off. The next day I came in to work and the place
was dust, nothing but a parking lot.

back then, people snorkeled-down cigarettes like they was candy. they also had an attention span, seeing as it took forever for one show to get to the point. "hey detective.....a famous old mobster was shot!", "no problem. let me flirt with this chick for half an hour then i'll get right on it."
