ya you need a little backpressure to make it start right up i had the same prob so i put in a cut out from JC Whitney and i just pull a lever and its open headers and agian for street legal sound. the cops hate me cuz they cant figure out why it got quiet after they pull me over. also try setting your timing advanced a bit to help with that idle.

Ya,
they sound good like that but there is not enough back pressure for a almost wore out motor to stay runnin it can't keep enough compression
