Assalamu Alaikum,
As some of you may already know, walhamdullah, Fatima Kasem a recent NJIT Alumni who turned 24 while in the coma, Al-Hikmah Islamic School Teacher, and the wife of Omar Awad, our dearly beloved brother and previous NJIT MSA President, has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She went into a coma on January 4th and has been in it since then. Since going into the coma, her brain tumor has become more aggressive.
I tell you this not for the sake of making a good story to relay to the next person, but rather because of the amount of Dua Fatima can use from you guys. We urge you to please dedicate time throughout your day and in all your prayers to please make as sincere of a duaa as you can for Fatima's recovery and also for Allah to grant both her family and Omar's family patience in this difficult time. Please make the duaa as sincerely as you would for your own sibling or loved one if they were in the same situation, because Fatima and Omar truly are our siblings.
The Prophet (pbuh) has described it as such: "You find the Muslims in their mutual love and compassion, like one body, should any organ of it fall ill, the rest of the body will share in the fever and sleeplessness that ensues". (al-Bukhari)
Please also try to read as much of the Quran as you can on a daily basis followed with a duaa for the both of them and their families.
On a final note, and please do sit and think about this. All of this is a wake-up call to people like me and you to truly think of how things can change in an instant. We should really think of how we are spending our days and lives and begin to take a lesson from this and improve ourselves. Think of the purpose of your life and what you are doing to make your life meaningful.
I'll leave you with a hadith:
Alee Ibn Abee Taalic related that he heard the Messenger of Allaah (S) say: If a man calls on his sick Muslim brother, it is as if he walks reaping the fruits of Paradise until he sits, and when he sits he is showered in mercy, and if this was in the morning, seventy thousand angels send prayers upon him until the evening, and if this was in the evening, seventy thousand angels send prayers upon him until the morning.
Wassalam Alaykom
